1. taking an backup of existing machine

2. Existing two data stores
  datastore1 = 460 Gb Free= 337 Gb
  datastore2 = 1.36 Tb Free= 523 Gb
3. Existing disk in data store 2 

Im going to create an 100 Gb disk in datastore2

4. shut down the system
5. Attach the new disk to cbqa02 

#  fdisk /dev/sdb

 Command (m for help):n  # create a partition

 Partition number (1-4):1 # specify partition number
 
  # starting cylinder
  
  # end cylinder
  
  Command (m for help):p  # show partition table
  
   Command (m for help):t  # change type
   
    Hex code (type L to list codes):8e  # specify Linux LVM
    
     Command (m for help):w # save and quit
     
     
    sfdisk -l /dev/sdb   # show status
    
    pvcreate /dev/sdb1
    
    vgcreate VolGroup_rhel6 /dev/sdb1
    
    lvcreate --name rhelvol -l 100%FREE VolGroup_rhel6
    
    mke2fs -j /dev/VolGroup_rhel6/rhelvol
    mke2fs -j /dev/VolGroup_rhel6/rhelvol
    
    e2label /dev/VolGroup_rhel6/rhelvol /deploy
    
    vi /etc/fstab
    
    Add lines below 
    
    /dev/VolGroup_rhel6/rhelvol /deploy                       ext3    defaults        1 1
    
    
    #copy required data to another folder 
 
    mount /deploy
    
    #again copy all the datas to the /deploy folder
 
6. restart the system
